The closest I felt to the horizon

 

Drowned,

Knee deep

In a pool of mud,

Sticky and stagnant

Black thick chocolate,

Hands in air

The coolest ocean breeze,

Fingers trembling like half-dead fish

Gasping for breath

To refill the lungs,

I felt the closest

To the horizon

That blurred my sight.
